and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Growing up, Genique was always on a church choir or school chorus. In Jamaica, she was exposed to an array of Reggae, Dancehall, Jazz, R&B, and Gospel music through her parents.

Genique also spent her childhood writing songs, poetry, and stories as well as teaching herself how to play the piano. During middle school, Genique moved to Brownsville, New York but she now resides in Jamaica, Queens. Though Genique went to High School and College with a concentration in the medical sciences, music somehow made it to the forefront of her life regardless of her studies.

During college, she decided to take music more seriously, despite her parent’s protests and Genique finally began recording the songs she had been writing for decades long.
